This premium device deploys a patented technology that grinds the information layer off of the media and is 100% effective. All data is eliminated completely and permanently and there is no possibility of forensic recovery. The DX-CD2 has been evaluated by NSA and meets the requirements of NSA/CSS Specification 04-02 for CD Media Destruction. In addition, the SEM DX-CD2 meets NIST SP 800-88 standard for Optical Disc Destruction and is HIPAA, FACTA, Sarbanes-Oxley and Gramm-Leach-Bliley compliant.

Not very durable

Two warnings about this device: First it isn't very durable at all. Out of the box it only weighs about 16 pounds and the whole thing is plastic. Our other problem was that we discovered it is NOT approved by the NSA for DVD destruction, even if you use the splitter. The manufacturer seems very careful NOT to make this clear in their description.Still, it wins the award for cheapest machine out there. But it only worked for about a year of very low volume and then wouldn't sand down the CD's anymore. There are MUCH better products out there for just little more money.
