New Document Finisher is on the Horizon

The recently released Standard Horizon ColorWorks 8000 all-in-one next-generation document finisher will be shown at Print 05, September 9 – 15 in Chicago. The ColorWorks 8000 is designed exclusively for operation in-line to the Xerox DocuColor 6060, 7000 and 8000 Production Color Printers, The compact multi-functional ColorWorks performs bookletmaking, scoring, bleed trimming, folding, stitching, and stacking, making it a nearly full-service “bindery in a box.”

The ColorWorks 8000 design is based on the popular ColorWorks 2000, which earned Standard the 2003 and 2004 “Reseller Finishing Partner of the Year” award for outstanding sales success. New features on the ColorWorks 8000 include a faster production rate of 80 pages per minute, the ability to now apply up to four score lines per sheet for the production of perfect bound book covers and tri-panel brochures, and a bright color touchscreen for simplified set-ups and changeovers. Additional engineering and software enhancements provide improved operator friendliness and serviceability.

The ColorWorks 8000 is the product of a close engineering alliance between Horizon International and Xerox Corporation, having been designed from the ground up to meet the unique requirements of in-line digital color document production. Professional-quality document production is managed through an icon-based color touchscreen, for quick, easy and accurate set-ups. Edge-to-edge full color bleeds are made possible with rotary head and foot trimming of posters, brochures, or booklets. And in-line scoring helps improve fold quality and avoid image-cracking induced by cross-grain stock.

The compact ColorWorks system performs corner, side and center-stapling functions, with booklet folding and face trimming. Finished booklets are delivered to an integrated motorized vertical stacker for convenience and space efficiency, while flat sheets are delivered to an offsetting catch tray.

“The exciting features of the new ColorWorks 8000 provide customers with even higher levels of document quality, ease of use, and finishing flexibility for Xerox production digital color,” said David Reny, vice president and managing director, Standard Finishing Systems. “Horizon engineering, Xerox color printing technology, and Standard’s comprehensive sales and service support continue to be a winning combination for customers.”

The Horizon ColorWorks 8000 brings professional new in-line finishing functionality to the Xerox DocuColor 6060, 7000 and 8000 Production Color Printers, and opens up a wide range of applications for new and existing customers.

Standard Finishing Systems, a division of Standard Duplicating Machines Corporation, is based in Andover, Massachusetts.
