Paper Shredder - Paper Jam

Do you have a paper jam?

Most jams can be simply backed out with the reverse button, while more stubborn jams may require the assistance of you tugging while reversing it out.

If you have jammed your shredder so bad that you can no longer back out the paper, don't worry because there is a solution. Most paper jams are caused by improper use or overexursion of your paper shredder. Proper maintenance can prevent jams and keep your paper shredder in prime running condition.

With any type of shredder you can use the same technique:
Soak the jammed paper with some shredder oil and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Once it is completely saturated try to run the paper through again in both forwards and reverse. For the most part, this technique is going to clear most jams. However; if the shredder still doesn't budge you probably have a more serious problem. NOTE: make sure to unplug you paper shredder before attempting to dislodge any obstruction or perform any repair.

Make sure to check the circuit breaker on your paper shredder to see that it is fully pushed into place. If all looks good with the circuit breaker , but you still get no response from the paper shredder and the jam doesn't move, stop pushing the button. Most people will continue trying the button until something happens, but most likely nothing ever will and you will just end up doing further damage to your paper shredder. You could wind up burning out relays, switches or even the motor itself. This is probably the most common source of paper shredder repairs, so be careful to not make the situation worse for yourself.

If you find that your paper shredder is in need of repairs, make sure to check and see if it will be covered under your warranty. If you need paper shredder parts or are ready to trade up to a better model contact Factory Express at (800) 399-2564.
