Keep Your Paper Folder Running Smoothly With Roller Cleaner & Static Eliminator

Proper maintenance is essential to your paper folder and can lengthen the life of your machine. Roller cleaner is the best way to extend the life of the rubber rollers contained in your paper folder. Paper dust, ink and other contaminants can build up over time and stick to your rollers rendering them inefficient. The rollers also dry out and crack over time, but can be prevented by locking in the moisture with roller cleaner. Static electricity can cause paper to stick together, leading to paper jams. With the regular use of Static eliminator you will be able to keep you paper folder running hassle-free for the life of the machine. Factory Express has everything you need to extend the life of your paper folder. In addition you can also find carts, stands and electronic counters suitable for a variety of paper folder models. Roller cleaner rejuvenates the rollers of you paper folder and when used over time, eliminates roller glaze. Roller cleaner also helps condition rollers which improves the performance of your machine as well and leads to a longer life. Static Eliminator dissipates static electricity to make folding, and other paper processing applications worry-free. More Info

Medium Duty Friction-Feed Paper Folders

Good Choice for Offices, Schools and Churches

Manual Setup, Auto Feed Paper Folders
These types of folders typically use manual setup, but there are auto-feed paper folders for medium volume paper folding. These folders have friction rollers that automatically pull the paper in from the feed tray and fold it. The only manual process required is setting up the folder. With a manual setup folder, you usually have to adjust the folding plates to the exact fold you want. Some medium duty folders will come with dial-in fold settings.

Not Just For Letters
The price is higher than the entry level letter folders. However you get the capability to do more than the standard “C fold”. These friction folders will usually do about four different folds, sometimes more. The main folds are single or half fold, letter/C-fold, double parallel fold and Z-fold.

They will also often fold two or three different paper sizes such as8–½” x 11”, A4 (8-1/4" X 11-5/8") and 11” x 17”. Sometimes they can handle heavier than normal 20# stock.

If you are considering a paper folder of this type you will have a wide choice. As with anything, the larger your budget the greater your range of features and options. However, the most expensive is not always the best choice for your needs.

Keep in mind that manufacturer claims are “ideal conditions”. In real world applications you are going to encounter occasional problems. It’s wise to get the best machine for your money, so be sure to review the other articles posted on this page. A few of your considerations are the volume and weight of the paper you will be folding, the type of folds you need, ease of operation and maintenance and the amount of paper you can stack in the paper tray (i.e. stack capacity).

The primary manufacturers for medium duty paper folders are Martin Yale, MBM, Dahle, Standard and Intimus. For the best prices and selection on paper folders and supplies visit www.factory-express.com.

Air-Feed/Vacuum Paper Folders - Faster folding without friction

Fast and efficient, air-feed/vacuum paper folders are the right choice for high volume jobs. These machines use the power of compressed air to separate and drive paper sheets through the folding process.

This is an advantage over traditional friction folders that cannot successfully fold glossy documents or other coated stock. Air-feed folders also will not smudge inks.

Air-feed/vacuum folders are a popular choice among printing businesses and larger offices because of their speed and efficiency.

These machines are more expensive than friction folders, however the time saved and the type of jobs they do make them a good investment. It is worthwhile to have training and to understand any maintenance considerations. Manufacturers like Standard and Martin Yale are aware of this and you should be able to get more information from your dealer or customer service representative.

Feature Packed
As you might imagine, these high-volume folders come with significant features. It is common to find automatic setup for folds and paper sizes, adjustable speed controls and programmable memories. The size of the machines is typically larger than friction folders, so be aware of space considerations.

How Fast?
How much faster are air-feed/vacuum folders than friction folders? Your output will vary, of course, depending on the type of fold and paper size and weight, but some machines are rated in the 20,000+ sheets per hour. That’s nearly twice the volume of many auto-feed friction folders.

Air Feed Paper Folders - The Basics

What is an air feed paper folder?
Air-Feed (Vacuum) Folders, unlike friction feed folders, utilize the power of compressed air to separate and drive paper sheets through the folding process. Typically, medium to larger sized offices, or printing businesses prefer air-feed folders over friction due largely to how fast and effective they are.

Why should I use an air feed paper folder?
Air feed paper folders use air to suck paper into the paper folding machine to be folded. If your application involves folding glossy paper documents, then an air feed folder is recommended. The glossy paper tends to slip on the friction rollers of a traditional friction feed paper folder, so the machine is not capable of producing a good fold.
