HSM is a worldwide producer of paper handling machines and a technological leader that started in Herman Schwelling's garage in 1971. Since then, the company has grown to three manufacturing centers supplying eleven company–owned subsidiaries that serve a worldwide market.
The company’s main production facility in Salem, Germany turns out everything from desktop shredders to heavy–duty commercial shredders that handle massive volumes of paper. The company also produces some of the finest baling presses in the world.
In 1999, they created HSM of America, the West Chester, PA based subsidiary that supplies markets in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico. HSM of America produces the most extensive line of DOD security level shredders available. In 2003, they announced their own line of unique and enormously successful rotary trimmers, stack cutters, and office guillotines.
This bold and innovative company has gone through some major changes over the years; however, the HSM commitment to excellence in the marketplace and the world community remains the same as it was the day the garage doors opened for business.
